Gabrielle Garritson

Gabrielle Garritson (she/her/hers) joined LIU in 2023 as aquatics director and men's and women's water polo assistant coach.

Garritson, a Saint Francis University and Gannon University alum, tallied 90 goals, 39 steals, 28 assists and 57 drawn exclusions during her collegiate career.

She served as captain at SFU while also a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Flash Leadership Institute, and serving as a Student-Athlete Mentor. 

Garritson then used a fifth year of eligibility due to COVID-19 to continue playing water polo while obtaining a master's degree at Gannon. There, she earned the 2021-22 Division II Athletics Directors Association Academic Achievement Award, 2022 Western Water Polo Association All-Academic honors, and  a spot on the Collegiate Water Polo Coaches 2022 Women's Outstanding All-Academic Teams.

Garritson is a native of Houston, Texas.

She began her coaching career with Viper Pigeon (West Houston Water Polo Club) throughout the Houston area, while taking multiple Viper Pigeon girls teams to the Junior Olympics in California.

Garritson began playing water polo at Clear Lake High School and through Viper Pigeon Water Polo Club.

She was selected to the Texas Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association all-state team in 2017, TISCA all-region team from 2015 through '17, and TISCA all-district team from 2014 through '17.

She also coaches Brooklyn Hustle, New York City's premier youth water polo club, which competes in the Tri-State league and American Water Polo league.
