LIU DANCE TEAM AUDITIONS
Thank you for your interest in the LIU Dance Team! Please fill out the following form: LIUDT Interest Form to be added to our list of prospects. To initiate the official recruitment process for the 2027-2028 season, we will be accepting Common Dance App Video Submissions, with the Early Submission Deadline of September 1, 2026, and the Regular Submission Deadline of January 1, 2027.

ELIGIBILITY
All LIU Dance team members must:
- Maintain full-time enrollment status at Long Island University
- 12+ credits per semester as an undergraduate student
- 9+ credits per semester as a graduate student
- Maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale
Recruitment Video Guidelines
The Long Island University Dance Teams offers an official recruitment process as well as Formal In-Person Auditions in March/April 2027 for the upcoming season. Those who are selected as official recruits will still be required to attend In-Person Auditions with a guaranteed Roster Spot for the upcoming season.
It is highly recommended to attend in-person clinics and combines throughout one's hopeful recruitment process. Clinics are open to any dancer ages 12+. Visit our Clinics page for more information.
IN-PERSON AUDITION GUIDELINES
All candidates must complete a brief questionnaire (view below) and perform three dances that demonstrate aptitude and techniques in Pom, Hip Hop, and Jazz. All candidates must bring a head shot photo (does not need to be professional) of themselves and their solo music. All candidates are expected to wear all black apparel and ensure their hair and makeup are “Game Day-Ready.”
AUDITION SCHEDULE
Participation in all events is mandatory for all local students.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION
Please complete the following required documentation and bring it with you to your audition. You are also required to bring a photocopy of the front and back of your health insurance card.
CHOREOGRAPHY
Choreography for Pom, Hip Hop, and Fight Song routines will be taught at the Audition Clinic prior to in-person Auditions in March/April 2027. Specific date TBA.
SOLO
Successful candidates are expected to prepare and perform a 45-60 second solo of any style the wish to further showcase. It is highly encouraged to perform in a style that represent the LIU Dance Team, such as Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop, or Pom. Dancers are encouraged to display their best technique and performance quality.
Music selection for the solo is determined by the candidate. Please ensure the song is appropriate and have fun! We cannot wait to see your performance.
