BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Noah Sorensen had three hits while headlining a trio of Sharks with two RBI apiece as LIU toppled over Delaware State 11-1 in the second game of their doubleheader Friday.
Sorensen, LIU's leadoff hitter, set the tone with a 3-for-4 performance -- complete with a two-run homer in the fifth inning – to go with two stolen bases. Mike Polubinski also helped spark the Sharks' offense with a 2-for-3 outing with a home run of his own, driving in two and scoring three runs in the game. Freshman Nate Figueroa hit a home run as well as part of a 2-for-3 day at the plate.
Reigning NEC Co-Player of the Week Cord Dobrinski (who has now won the honor two weeks in a row) rounded things out on offense with a two-hit outing of his own for LIU, coming around to score twice.
Dale Fry was excellent on the mound for the Sharks, tossing six and a third innings (just shy of a complete game in this seven-inning matchup), striking out five while allowing no earned runs or walks against the Hornets.
LIU will go for a series sweep of Delaware State on Saturday.
