BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – LIU completed a series sweep of Delaware State, coming away with a 13-2 win on Saturday.
The Sharks' offense erupted and broke things open with an eight-run second, spearheaded by a three-run home run by Ryan Rivera and a grand-slam by Joseph Durso later in the inning. This helped LIU mount a 10-1 lead and the team never looked back.
Durso finished the game by going 2-for-4 at the plate, driving in four, scoring three runs, and drawing two walks. Rivera went 2-for-4 with three RBI while scoring twice, and Nate Figueroa also drove in a pair via a fourth-inning two-run single, as part of a 2-for-4 performance of his own.
Justin DeCastro kept Delaware State's bats in check, tossing six innings while surrendering just two runs on the mound for LIU.
The Sharks will return to action Tuesday, April 28, visiting Army at 4:05 p.m.
