BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Sharks opened up their three game series vs. Delaware State with a 6-4 win on Friday.
Despite falling behind 1-0 in the first, Cord Dobrinski (who has now won two consecutive NEC Co-Player of the Week awards) continued his hot streak while hitting a solo home run to help LIU tie the game in the bottom of the second inning. A two-RBI single by Jake Kelleher, followed by another run-scoring single from Elijah Fairchild, helped the Sharks claim a 4-1 lead in the third.
Though Delaware State attempted to claw their way back throughout the contest, LIU never relinquished the lead, instead adding to its win margin. Joseph Durso doubled home Dobrinski and later came around himself to score in the sixth.
Nicholas Finarelli went seven innings for the Sharks on the mound, striking out nine while earning the win.
