Eden Stippick of the Long Island University women's gymnastics team was named East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Co-Rookie Specialist of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday. This is Stippick's second rookie specialist of the week honor. The first time was on Jan. 21.
Stippick's career night helped lead the Sharks past EAGL's preseason top-ranked team, George Washington University, on Saturday, 192.375 – 191.000. She tied for first place after scoring her career best of 9.800 on the vault, leading the Sharks to a team-best vault score of 48.700 for the season.
Stippick also matched her career best on the floor with a score of 9.700, taking fifth place in the category for the night and recording the third highest score on that rotation for the Sharks.
Stippick and the Sharks are set to travel to Towson University on Saturday, Feb. 7, for the third EAGL meet of the season.
