Staten Island, N.Y. – The Sharks shined as LIU men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Mets Championships on Friday, with a couple of athletes securing top-three finishes in their events.
Sonjay Baylor-Reeves, a two-time NEC Rookie of the Week award recipient already this season (who also earned NEC Women's Field Athlete of the Week on Jan. 20) added to her success by finishing in second place in the Women's Shot Put with a 12.94m mark.
The freshman's LIU teammate,
Abigail Jefferies, came in fifth place, respectively, with a 12.21m mark.
Tavaughn Stewart was a top finisher for the men's team, coming in third place in the Men's Weight Throw, boasting a 15.94m mark.
Elsewhere for LIU, the 4x400 Meter Relay team of
Langston Richardson,
Robert Lausen,
Joshua Roos, and
Lekh Desai secured a fourth-place finish with a time of 3:25.21
LIU will compete next at the Fastrack Invitational on Friday, Feb. 6.
