Noah Serdachny scored the game-winning goal with 2:45 remaining and the Long Island University men's ice hockey team (8-12-1) topped Stonehill College (4-14-2), 3-2, on Sunday afternoon at Bridgewater Ice Arena. Sophomore goaltender
Daniel Duris made 31 saves as LIU picked up the victory after trailing twice.
The Sharks fell behind early but less than 90 seconds after allowing the game's first goal, Sixten Jennersjö scored, assisted by
Brett Rylance and
Dylan Kinch, tying the game 1-1 at 13:40 of the first period.
Trailing again in the second period,
Anthony Lucarelli found the back of the net at 12:43 to tie the game 2-2, with Rylance and Kinch again tallying assists.
In the third period, after fighting off a pair of Stonehill power plays, Serdachny scored at 17:15, assisted by
J.R Perdion and
Isaac Lambert. In total, LIU held Stonehill 0-for-5 on power play chances.
The Sharks return to action on Friday, Jan. 23, at the University of Alaska Anchorage for the first of a five-game road trip to Alaska. Puck drop is scheduled for 11 p.m. eastern.
