Isaac Lambert nets two goals in road win

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Long Island University men's ice hockey team (9-12-1) returned to the ice for the first time in 12 days on Friday night, defeating the University of Alaska Anchorage Seawolves 6-2 on the road.

Following a scoreless first period, the Sharks buried the puck in the back of the net six times in Friday's second period. Senior Casey McDonald netted LIU's first goal of the game, followed by a goal from sophomore Nick Bernardo less than three minutes later. A minute-and-a-half later, sophomore Isaac Lambert put the Sharks up 3-0 with an unassisted goal.

A power play goal by sophomore Sixten Jennersjö midway through the second period gave LIU a 4-0 lead, followed quickly by a goal from sophomore J.R Perdion while the Sharks were shorthanded. The Seawolves netted a goal with under eight minutes remaining in the period, which was quickly answered by a second goal from Lambert.

LIU went on to claim a 6-2 win after a third-period goal by the Seawolves. The Sharks outshot UAA 32-16 in the win, and goalkeeper sophomore Daniel Duris recorded 14 saves. Sophomore Trent Powell, sophomore Anthony Lucarelli, Bernardo, and senior Noah Serdachny all assisted on goals in the win.

The Sharks continue their three-game set with the Seawolves on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 9 p.m. ET.
