ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Long Island University men's water polo team claimed its first two wins of the season this past weekend, defeating Wheaton College and Penn State Behrend at the Navy Invite on Sunday.

"We had an exciting weekend at the Navy Invite and came away with two great wins yesterday!" LIU head coach Morgan Allison said. "The team has been putting in a lot of hard work, and it's showing. I'm incredibly proud of this group and the growth we've seen so far this season. We're looking forward to building on this momentum and continuing to progress together. Excited for what's ahead!"

After falling to George Washington in a closely contested 17-15 match on Friday, where sophomore Jack French finished with seven goals, the Sharks returned on Sunday to first take down Wheaton 27-4. LIU was led by five goals from freshman Lucas Ramirez, along with four goals each from French and freshman Edward Carpenter.

French and freshman Mark Malamud tied for a team-high four goals each in LIU's 15-10 win over Penn State Behrend on Sunday evening, as senior Logan Morgan and Ramirez were closely behind with two goals apiece.

LIU hits the road again this weekend at the Bucknell Invitational in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, with their first match scheduled against the Air Force Academy at 11:20 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20.
