West Windsor, N.J. — After leading the Sharks to the title match of the NEC Tournament, both
Philip Hilble and
Ales D'Anna were named to the NEC Men's All-Tournament Team.
Hilble began the tournament while playing a key role in LIU's opening 4-0 win over Stonehill. He paired up with
Leon Harder to win in doubles (6-4), and then secured a 6-0, 6-2 win in singles. Against Wagner in round two, he and Harder won 6-2 in doubles, and then Hilble picked up another 6-2, 6-1 singles win as LIU won 4-1 and advanced to the championship round. Playing on the big stage against Binghamton, Hilble won 7-5, 6-4 in singles as the Sharks secured a second-place finish.
D'Anna was also strong throughout, beginning his tournament play with a 6-1, 6-2 singles win against Stonehill. He and
Danila Ishchanka won 7-6 in doubles against Wagner, and then D'Anna shined in the title match against Binghamton, first earning a doubles win with Ishchanka (6-2) and then picking up a 6-3, 6-0 singles victory on his own.
