BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Long Island University women's gymnastics team honored its three-member senior class on Sunday afternoon, but fell to Towson University, 195.650 – 193.100, at the Pratt Recreation Center. Seniors

Ella Barrington, and
Brooke Burkhart were all honored in a post-meet ceremony in front of the home crowd.
"I'm incredibly proud of this team and their fight from the very beginning," said head coach Taylor Colwell. We had a lot of growth and highs to be celebrated. Tonight, our focus was on celebrating our seniors and giving them the send-off they deserve. We're excited to get back into the gym and continue working hard as we move forward."
Towson won the point total in all four disciplines, winning vault 48.450-47.825, uneven bars 49.075-48.350, balance beam 49.050-48.175, and floor exercise 49.075-48.750.
LIU's meet highlight came from Raphaelle Perreault who scored 9.850 on beam, tying Towson's Clara Hong for the individual event crown.
Several Sharks also posted career-high marks at the meet, including
Kaira Cartwright who tied her career high on vault (9.775),
Caroline Kliewer on bars (9.750) and
Danyella Holmes on bars (9.700). Setting season-bests were
Angelina Hogan on bars (9.675), Sanchez on bars (9.625),
Kady Bills-McCoy on beam (9.750), Barrington on floor (9.775) and
Alina Danilchenko on floor (9.800).
The Sharks return to action on Sunday, March 9, in a tri-meet hosted by Yale University at 1 p.m. The University of Maryland is the third team scheduled to compete.
