TEANECK, N.J. - The Long Island University men's volleyball team saw its four-match winning streak come to an end on Saturday, falling on the road to Fairleigh Dickinson University in five sets.
LIU jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the match after defeating the Knights 25-21 in the first set and 25-22 in the second set; however, FDU responded by winning the third and fourth sets with scores of 25-22 and 25-21, respectively.
Saturday's fifth set was as close as it gets; the Sharks took a 15-14 lead on an attack error by the Knights, but FDU responded to tie the set at 15. Both sides continued to trade scores until the Knights claimed a 20-18 lead, winning the match 3-2.
LIU falls to 13-5 overall and 1-1 in Northeast Conference matches. The Sharks return to Brooklyn next week for a two-match set against Daemen, with the first outing beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 28.
