BALTIMORE, Md. – The 14
th-ranked Long Island University acrobatics and tumbling team picked up its first win of the season, topping Morgan State University, 242.120-235.420, on Saturday afternoon. The Sharks set season highs in nine events.
"We worked a lot this week just focusing on reps, and more reps, of everything," said head coach
Shelby Armstrong. "We were able to increase some start values since last meet which really helped when we got into the second half. We started to see the scores we have been looking for today and the team had a blast on and off the mat!"
LIU's highest score of the meet came in Pyramid Heat 1 (Inversion) where the team of
Arianna Ardilla,
Kylie Iwanaga, and
Sasha Fairey posted 9.65 out of 10.
Ardilla and Iwanaga, continued the success along with
Makaela Steele, posting 9.6 out of 10 in Acro Heat 1 (5 Element).
Other notable high scores included 9.55 out of 10 in Pyramid Heat 2 (Duo Pyramid) and 9.35 out of 9.55 in Tumbling Heat 4 (Aerial Pass) by freshman
Makenna Guidish.
LIU returns to action on Tuesday, March 11, at Fairmont State University.
