Staten Island, N.Y. — Malachi Davis flirted with a triple-double to help LIU win one on the road, beating Wagner 60-47 on Thursday night.
Fresh off scoring a season-high 32 points in the Sharks' last game out against Chicago State on Feb. 1, Davis made sure his fingerprints were once again all over this one, this time ensuring that LIU walked away victorious. The redshirt junior truly stuffed the stat-sheet, tallying 13 points to go with season-highs of 10 assists, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Davis also led his team with 3 steals.
As Davis orchestrated the offense, his teammates reaped the benefits. The game also featured a season-high 18 points from
Blake Lander, who shot 6 of 8 from the field and made a season-high 4 daggers from long range.
Jamal Fuller also helped pace LIU with 18 points and 6 rebounds.
The aforementioned trio combined for 24 of LIU's 28 first half points as the visiting team led by a small margin at the break. That said, the second half is when things truly got going, with the Sharks building its lead thanks to a key 9-0 run down the stretch.
The Sharks will return to the court on Saturday, Feb. 8, hosting Stonehill at 2 p.m.
