Malachi Davis Scores 24 Points As LIU Powers Past Stonehill

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — LIU won its second game in a row on Saturday afternoon, powering past Stonehill by a score of 62-59.

Malachi Davis put together yet another special performance as he helped pace the Sharks on both end of the floor. He scored 24 points on 9 of 18 shooting from the field, to go with 4 assists, 3 steals, and matched his season-high 2 blocks for the second straight contest. The redshirt junior has now scored at least 22 points on ten different occasions this season.

Davis poured in 17 first half points and LIU led by as many as thirteen in the first half alone, taking a six-point lead into the break. The Sharks withstood several comeback attempts by Stonehill in the second half. The Skyhawks tied the game at 51 apiece with 4:36 remaining, but any such luck to try and take the lead ended there. With LIU up one with six seconds left in the contest, Brent Davis sank two crucial free-throws to give his team a three-point lead and ultimately, the victory.

Jamal Fuller scored 12 points and Blake Lander added 10, joining Malachi Davis as LIU's double-digit scorers for the second straight game.

The Sharks will next match up with FDU, playing Saturday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m.
