BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — Julia Trainor's overtime heroics lifted the LIU women's lacrosse team to its first win of the season with a thrilling come-from-behind 10-9 win over Manhattan University on Wednesday afternoon.
Trainor found the back of the net 2:10 into the extra frame after a stellar setup from Erin Harkins. Trainor finished the game with a pair of goals and a team-high 11 shots.
Lindsey Lucia tied the game at 9 with 38 seconds left in regulation, beating the Jaspers' netminder to send the game to overtime.
Goalkeeper Mylie Norton earned her first win of the season with a six-save performance.
Harkins and Lucia each finished the game with two goals.
Selia Lyons, Pierson Schuchart, Ava Hernandez, and Samantha Dickerson also scored in the win.
LIU returns to Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium on Saturday at 11 a.m. to face Iona.
