BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The 14
th-ranked Long Island University acrobatics and tumbling team posted two more season-high scores, but fell to No. 2 Quinnipiac University, 257.600-220.170, on Saturday afternoon at the Pratt Recreation Center.
The standout performances came from
Arianna Ardilla,
Kylie Iwanaga, and
Makaela Steele, who posted 9.3 out of 10 in the Acro 5 Element, the team's highest score in the heat this season, and from
Madysen Bradley,
Raegan Cromwell,
Taylor Jackson, and
Georgina Moorhouse, who, along with Ardilla, scored an 8.65 out of 9.3 in Toss Heat 1, also a season best.
"We played some new people in some new positions and switched things around and had a positive turn out for a lot of those events," said head coach
Shelby Armstrong. "Some of the scores didn't go the way we expected but we kept fighting until the end. We are back to work this week, bringing those start values in tumbling back up."
The Sharks return to action this Saturday, March 1, at Morgan State University. LIU will have 10 days off before its spring break road trip that features meets versus No. 6 Fairmont State University (March 11), No. 9 Frostburg State University (March 14), and No. 15 Duquesne University (March 16).
