BROOKLYN, N.Y. — After defeating FDU in five sets on Friday night, the Long Island University women's volleyball team (16-8, 13-1 NEC) used a strong fourth set to earn a 3-1 win over the Knights on Saturday afternoon.
With the Sharks winning the first two sets by scores of 25-19, FDU responded to pull within one set by narrowly winning the third frame 30-28. However, momentum was not on the side of the Knights; LIU scored the first 12 points of the fourth set, eventually winning the set by a score of 25-7.
Junior Sara van Gisteren led the Sharks with a season-high 26 kills on Saturday, while senior Karly Klaer totaled 45 assists in the win. Sophomore Miabella Musignac finished the match with 17 digs, followed by 15 from van Gisteren and 10 by Klaer. Junior Yasmeen Muhammad recorded six total blocks in the win, while Klaer had eight aces.
LIU returns to the floor on Friday, Nov. 14, at home against Stonehill College at 6 p.m.
