BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The Long Island University women's volleyball team (17-8, 14-1 NEC) took down Stonehill College (6-23, 5-10 NEC) in three sets on Friday night, securing a fourth consecutive victory.
The Sharks dominated the Skyhawks in Friday night's match, winning each set by scores of 25-14, 25-7, and 25-10. LIU scored the first seven points in the opening frame, setting the tone in its 3-0 sweep of Stonehill.
LIU recorded a hitting percentage of .500 in the win, including high marks from senior Karly Klaer (.714) and sophomore Bella Correia (.615). Correia and junior Sara van Gisteren led the Sharks with eight kills each, followed by seven from sophomore Mia Rojas Avila.
Klaer finished the match with 31 assists, while sophomore Miabella Musignac totaled 18 digs in the win. Sophomore Sara Garcia ended the night with a team-high eight total blocks.
LIU concludes the regular season against Stonehill on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 1 p.m. A win secures an NEC regular season title for the Sharks, who enter the final day of the regular season a game ahead of Saint Francis University (18-8, 13-2 NEC) in the conference standings.
