NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - The Long Island University women's volleyball team (11-7, 8-0 NEC) remains unbeaten in conference play, having taken down Central Connecticut State University in three sets on the road on Friday night.
The Sharks held a 14-13 lead over the Blue Devils in the opening set, though LIU outscored CCSU 11-2 down the stretch of the set to take a 1-0 lead in the match. LIU recorded a team hitting percentage of .481 in the first set.
After LIU claimed a 25-20 win in a back-and-forth second set, the Sharks overcame an early five-point deficit to win the third set 25-20, ending the match in a 3-0 Shark victory.
Friday's win was the ninth consecutive for LIU, who improved to 11-7 overall with the win.
Sophomore Bella Correia and junior Sara van Gisteren paced the Sharks in kills with 10 each, followed closely by sophomore Mia Rojas-Avila. Junior Yasmeen Muhammad recorded a team-high four total blocks, senior Karly Klaer finished with 29 assists, and sophomore Miabella Musignac recorded 11 digs.
LIU takes on CCSU again on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 1 p.m.
