BRIDGEPORT, Pa. - Sophomore Jack French of the Long Island University men's water polo team was named the Northeast Water Polo Conference Player of the Week, the Collegiate Water Polo Association announced on Wednesday.
"We are thrilled to celebrate Jack for being recognized as Player of the Week!" head coach Morgan Allison said. "This honor is well-deserved. As a sophomore, Jack has already surpassed 100 career goals at LIU and continues to be a standout in and out of the pool. As a team captain, he leads with dedication, drive, and a commitment to excellence that inspires his teammates every day."
French led the Sharks with six goals scored in LIU's matchup against Iona University on Sunday, also finishing the match with three assists, one steal, one exclusion drawn, and one block.
The sophomore driver from Brisbane, Australia leads LIU with 54 goals scored this season, racking up 13 assists, 13 steals, 24 exclusions drawn, and seven blocks.
LIU travels to Providence, Rhode Island for the Crimson Classic this weekend, beginning with a matchup against George Washington University on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 4 p.m.
