Chicago, I.L. — LIU lost to Chicago State in overtime on Saturday, losing 64-59 to the conference opponent.
The Sharks secured an early lead and the two teams kept pace with one another for much of the game, allowing LIU to maintain a narrow edge throughout. But a late run by Chicago State forced overtime, and the Sharks were unable to regain its lead in the extra period.
Sirviva Legions scored 16 points to lead four Sharks in double-figures despite the loss.
Janessa Williams tallied the game's only double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds, her second of the season. LIU received a big boost from its bench in the contest, with
Kaiden Glenn scoring a season-high 14 points on 4 of 6 shooting from deep.
Brianna Mead added 10 points, marking the fourth time in five games she's scored in double-figures. The freshman also had a season-high 8 rebounds and led LIU with three steals.
The Sharks will return to play on Thursday, Jan. 9, visiting Central Connecticut State at 7 p.m.
