BROOKLYN, N.Y. — LIU lost its matchup with Mercyhurst on Saturday afternoon by a score of 73-58.
The Sharks entered the contest fresh off a 63-56 win over Saint Francis just two nights ago (Thursday). As the team looked to make it back-to-back victories in Brooklyn, LIU started things off strong with a six-point lead after the first quarter. Unfortunately, the home team was unable to maintain its lead and come away with a victory.
Despite the loss, freshman Brianna Mead had a strong showing with 15 points (one off her season-high of 16 points, set on Jan. 2) to go with season-highs of 5 assists and 4 steals. Sirviva Legions made it twelve straight games in double-figures with 14 points, and Janessa Williams tallied her fourth double-double of the campaign with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
LIU will return to play on Saturday, Feb. 1, hosting Chicago State at 2 p.m.
