MADISON, Wis. — Austin Brimmer, Andrius Kulbis-Marino, and Isaiah Fox each scored for the LIU on Friday night in game one of their two-game series against Wisconsin.
Brimmer tied the game at 1 with 1:58 remaining in the first period, but the Badgers responded with a goal to take a 2-1 lead into the intermission.
Kulbis-Marino quickly evened the score at 2 in the opening seconds of the middle frame.
Fox found the net just 20 seconds into the third period to bring the Sharks within one, making it a 4-3 game. Wisconsin would answer with two third period goals to pull away with a 5-3 win.
Trent Powell and Connor Gregga each finished the game with an assist. The Sharks recorded 17 blocked shots and goaltenders Noah Rupprecht and Tyriq Outen both saw action in the crease against the Badgers.
The Sharks and Badgers will face off again on Saturday night for game two of the series.
