North Easton, M.A. — The Sharks put together an impressive come-from-behind victory against Stonehill on Friday night, winning 70-60. The victory improves LIU to 3-0 in conference play, the best start under third-year head coach
Rod Strickland.
LIU faced a six-point deficit at halftime, but clearly the best was yet to come with a triumphant second half.
Malachi Davis led all scorers with 27 points, largely in part thanks to pouring in 13 straight points with under four minutes to go in the game. The redshirt junior helped LIU take command of the contest, and the Sharks took advantage by going on a 9-0 run to close things out.
An emphatic dunk by Davis with just 43 seconds left resulted in an and-one foul, and put quite the exclamation point on the special effort.
Terell Strickland also excelled in the second half, scoring 11 of his 13 points for LIU, to go with 6 rebounds and 3 assists in the game.
Jamal Fuller added 14 points and led LIU with 7 rebounds. The Sharks shot just under 70% as a group in the second half.
LIU will look to make it four in a row when the team faces Central Connecticut State on Sunday, Jan. 12 at 1 p.m.
