TEANECK, N.J. — The LIU softball team wrapped up its series at FDU in dominant fashion on Sunday afternoon, shutting out the Knights 4-0 and 8-0 in five innings.
In the first matchup, the Sharks struck first an a two-RBI double from
Alexia Castro in the third. They would score again in the fifth on a wild pitch and again in the seventh after another Castro RBI double.
Alyssa O'Donnell finished her complete game shutout with seven strikeouts.
In game two, LIU would score first on a
Dallas Andrews single in the third inning. The Sharks really broke it open in the fourth when they plated seven runs that would seal the win.
Alyssa Polemeni hit a grand slam, followed by a two-RBI double from
Lily Hinkle and then a sac fly from
Gabby Padilla.
Lindsey Cowans faced the minimum and threw a one walk no-hitter.
The Sharks will return to the field on Wednesday when they host Hofstra at 4 p.m. in Brooklyn.
