TEANECK, N.J. — The LIU softball team returned to action on Saturday afternoon when it took on FDU in conference play.

The Sharks jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the second inning after Alyssa Polemeni's fourth home run of the season.

LIU added another run on Jazmine Cuffie's first RBI single of the season in the top of the fourth. FDU would respond with a solo home run in the bottom half of the inning, but Lindsey Cowans would settle in after that. She would only allow two more base runners for the rest of the game and earned her tenth victory as the Sharks won 2-1.

Dallas Andrews went 3-4 in the leadoff spot, bringing her batting average up to .339.

Alexia Castro and Priscilla Gillies both recorded singles.

Cowans struck out four in her complete game win.

The Sharks will return to field tomorrow at noon to finish up the series with FDU in a doubleheader.
