NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. — The LIU softball team took on Merrimack for the last game of its conference series in Massachusetts.
Merrimack struck first in the third inning with a solo home run, but LIU would respond to tie the game in the fourth thanks to a
Jazmine Cuffie RBI single, scoring
Alexia Castro.
In the fifth, the Sharks took a 2-1 lead on a
Gabby Padilla double to left center.
LIU's bats went quiet and Merrimack was able to score two runs in the bottom of the seventh to walk the game off, 3-2.
Lily Hinkle and Castro both went 1-1 with two walks and a run scored.
Lindsey Cowans struck out two,
Alyssa O'Donnell struck out one.
The Sharks return to the field on Saturday for Alumni Day in Brooklyn and doubleheader against Le Mayne starting at 1 p.m.
