PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. — The LIU women's golf team wrapped up a very successful NEC Championship weekend on Sunday afternoon.
In round one on Friday, the Sharks set a program record with a team score of 288, besting the prior record of 297 by nine strokes.
For the tournament, LIU finished T3 with a total score of 914. Three Sharks finished in the top 18, with two posting top ten finishes.
Emily Byrne was the best LIU golfer, finishing solely in third with a +7 (69, 75, 73 = 217). The graduate student had excellent weekend, being the best scoring golfer on par 4's (+4) and the sixth best scoring golfer on par 3's (+2). Byrne was tied for the most pars throughout the tournament (36), and scored the seventh most birdies (six).
Hailey Holbdy had a very nice tournament as well, finishing in with place while shooting +15 (71, 77, 77 = 225). The freshman was the seventh best scoring golfer on par 4's (+8), ninth best on par 3's (+3), while shooting the sixth most pars (34) and eighth most birdies (five).
Vera Arrébola Granes rounded out the top three for LIU, finishing 17th and shooting +22 (71, 76, 85 = 232). The Spain native impressed on par 4's and par 5's, being the tenth and fourteenth best scoring golfer on those types of holes while also shooting eighth most birdies (five).
Alexa Garrett finished T28, playing her best golf on par 4's and Simran Singh finished T38, being one of the top golfers on par 3's.
