BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — The LIU women's lacrosse team bid farewell to 12 student-athletes on Senior Day ahead of the Sharks' 7-6 victory against Merrimack at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.
Rachel Weber propelled LIU to a 5-4 lead in the third quarter, finishing the game with two goals.
Pierson Schuchart broke a 5-all tie in the fourth quarter, finding the back of the net and granting LIU a 6-5 lead.
Merrimack managed to knot the score at six with 1:56 remaining in regulation. However,
Ava Taylor sealed the win for LIU with her game-winning goal just 22 seconds before the final whistle.
LIU has now secured six consecutive victories and improves to 7-1 in NEC play.
Amanda Weber claimed five draw controls during the afternoon, while
Mylie Norton thwarted eight shots.
LIU will next compete at CCSU before returning to Post for its home finale against FDU on April 24.
