CLAREMONT, Calif — The LIU women's water polo team finished up its California trip in the Convergence Tournament on Saturday.

In their first match of the day, the Sharks took down Cal Baptist 15-9. The Lancers jumped out to a 4-1 lead but the Sharks would battle back, scoring four goals in a row to take a 7-5 lead. That would be enough for the victory as the Sharks cruised to a win late.

The second match was bit more difficult when LIU took on No. 9 Long Beach State. Whenever the Sharks tried to gain momentum, LBSU would fire right back and regain the lead. Five straight goals would be LIU's demise as it fell 13-9.

Kate Hinrichs scored a season-high five goals against Cal Baptist, finishing the day with six.

Paola Dominguez-Castro had five while Diba Peiravani had four and Ale Aranguren had three. 

The Sharks return to the pool on Saturday for their Alumni game at 1 p.m. at the LIU Pool.
