BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The LIU men's volleyball team took on St. Thomas Aquinas in its second and final meeting with the Spartans.
The Sharks came out absolutely buzzing early and set the tone for the rest of the match early. When they won the first set 25-13, the Spartans knew they were in store for a tough matchup.
LIU followed up its dominant first set with an even more dominant second, taking it quickly 25-11. St. Thomas Aquinas showed. life early in the third but the Sharks quickly put to bed any attempt at a comeback with a 25-16 set victory for the sweep.
This was a complete team victory for LIU with 11 different Sharks recording kills.
Vanja Petrasinovic led the way with seven, followed by
Kale Spencer who had six.
Jack Sarnowski and
Roei Horovitz shared the tead lead in both assists (13) and digs (four).
Chase Celichowski tallied a season-high five service aces.
Kasey Clouet and Spencer both had a team-high four blocks.
The Sharks return to the floor Saturday night in a conference matchup against FDU at 5 p.m.
