SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The LIU women's rugby team finished second at the Yellow Jacket 7s Tournament, marking the Sharks' first competition since October 2023 and head coach
Dee Nash's LIU debut.
LIU went 2-2 in pool play and won its quarterfinal match up against Army (2), with a score of 42-10.
The Sharks took the field against AIC (1) for their second meeting of the afternoon against the Yellow Jackets. AIC had previously defeated LIU 27-17 in pool play. However, the Sharks rallied back in the semifinals and secured a victory over AIC with a score of 29-17.
"We are really happy with the performance of the team this weekend," said head coach
Dee Nash. "We had some pretty specific focuses going into the tournament and were able to prioritize those while also working towards a second place finish."
