FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Sophomore standout
Julia Trainor scored four goals as LIU fell to Sacred Heart 7-6 on Wednesday afternoon.
Trainor's second-half eruption made it a 5-4 game, pulling the Sharks within one after she scored two straight third-quarter goals.
Jenna Lewis tied the game at five in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter before the Pioneers added two of their own.
Trainor's fourth-quarter goal with 6:39 to play pulled LIU within one, but it would be the final goal of the game for both teams.
Mylie Norton finished the game with 10 saves, and
Lily Bilello stopped four shots.
LIU next plays Saturday at 11 a.m. when the Sharks host Howard at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.
