MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. — The LIU softball team played its final in its final matchup of the Spring Games on Sunday morning when it took on Colgate.
The bats were quiet for both teams early on until
Gabby Padilla broke through with a one run single in the third. That was followed up by a monster grand slam by
Mari Narvaiz to give the Sharks a 5-0 lead. Colgate would get two back before
Nyae' Dick scored on a wild and
Alexia Castro drove in her seventh RBI in three games.
Kira Buckner would settle in as the Sharks drove in two more runs and won the game 9-3.
Dallas Andrews finished the game 2-4 with a double and an RBI.
Lily Hinkle went 3-5 with an RBI while
Alexia Castro went 3-4.
Buckner threw a complete game with one strikeout.
The Sharks return to the field on Thursday at noon when they take on Saint Peter's in their home opener in Brooklyn.
