PROVO, Utah — The LIU men's volleyball played its first of two matches in Utah on Thursday night when it took on nationally ranked BYU.
The Sharks were feisty in the first two set, looking to swing momentum in their direction but the experienced Cougars thwarted any attempt at an upset. LIU fell in three sets 23-25, 22-25, 16-25.
Gio Collazo impressed once again, leading LIU with 11 kills.
Livan Moreno and
Kale Spencer were tied for second with five kills each.
Joseph Nunez had a team-high six digs.
Jack Sarnowski led the Sharks in assists with 24.
Freshman
Seamus Flynn had one of his best games of the season so far, recording a team-high 3.5 blocks.
The Sharks return to the court on Saturday when they wrap up their trip to Provo against BYU at 9 p.m. est.
