STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The LIU men's basketball team took the quick trip over the bridge to take on NEC foe Wagner on Sunday afternoon.
The Sharks led early on but a Wagner run and a couple of misses in a row put LIU in a first half hole. The Sharks trailed by 10 at half and a Wagner technical foul seemed to give them life in the second half. Unfortunately for LIU, every time they tried to come back Wagner would go on a scoring run and further the gap. The Sharks fell 72-57 and dropped to 6-9 in NEC play.
Eric Acker was the team's leading scorer with 15 points. He also grabbed two rebounds.
R.J. Greene recorded his fourth double-double of the season, scoring 12 points and grabbing 13 boards. Greene is averaging 7.7 rebounds per game which puts him at second in the NEC.
Terell Stricklandhad a team-high five assists.
Andre Washington played 27 minutes off of the bench and scored seven.
The Sharks return to the court on Thhursday when they wrap up the regular season at CCSU.
