NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — The LIU men's basketball team wrapped up its regular season on Thursday night when it traveled to take on Central Connecticut State.
After a slow start, the Sharks went on a little bit of a run and took a six point lead with just a little bit less than halfway to go in the first half. A media timeout would allow the Blue Devils to regroup but neither team could pull away as CCSU took a three point lead into the locker room.
The second half was a bit of a different story as CCSU came out firing from three even though it only made one three-pointer in the first half. The Sharks could not respond from the three-point Blue Devil barrage as they fell 78-64.
Eric Acker led the team in all three major categories, scoring 13 points with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Jason Steele had a nice game off of the bench on his birthday, scoring 11 and grabbing five rebounds.
R.J. Greene scored 12 and grabbed seven boards with a team-high two steals.
LIU returns to the court on Wednesday for the first round of the NEC Tournament. The Sharks are locked into the seven seed and will most likely take on CCSU in a rematch in Connecticut.
