AMHERST, N.Y. — The LIU men's volleyball team went to Daemen on Saturday afternoon for an NEC matchup.
The Sharks battled in the first set, trading blows with Wildcats as both teams tried to get an advantage. Late in the set, both LIU and Daemen got to set points but neither could put the other away. Daemen was up 26-25 in the set when a point reversal went the Wildcats' way and they won the first 27-25.
The late reversal seemed to give Daemen all of the momentum for the rest of the match. The Sharks fought valiantly for the rest of the match but could not bring it all together in the later stages and fell in three 25-27, 20-25, 22-25.
Gio Collazo led the team in kills for the second straight day this time recording 15. He was tied for the team lead in digs with
Kale Spencer, each had six.
Jack Sarnowski had a team-high 30 assists.
Arthur Sueur tallied two service aces.
The Sharks return to the court on Saturday at 2 p.m. when they travel to FDU.
