ST. CHARLES, Mo. — Cam Connolly produced his first career hat trick and the LIU men's lacrosse team roared back to defeat host Lindenwood, 10-7, on Saturday at Hunter Stadium.
The Sharks had trailed 6-3 early the second quarter. LIU then produced seven straight goals while holding the Lions scoreless for more than 41 minutes.
Lindenwood broke its scoring drought with 36 seconds remaining in the game.
Jasper Simon made seven saves en route to his second straight start and victory.
Connolly, a sophomore attackman from Seaford, had three goals and an assist.
Ben McIsaac and
Tom von Bargen had two goals apiece.
Shaun Hill and
Anthony DiMatteo combined to win 12 of 20 faceoffs (60 percent).
The Sharks now return home to face UMass Lowell at 2 p.m. next Saturday at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.
