BUFFALO, N.Y. — The LIU men's volleyball team traveled upstate for its first road conference matchup on Friday night.
The Sharks dropped the first set 25-27 after being on set point but that seemed to wake to them up. Kills from
Livan Moreno,
Gio Collazo,
Arthur Sueur and
Kale Spencer propelled the Sharks to two big victories in sets two and three, 25-15 and 25-19.
D'Youville would not go down without a fight as they battled the whole way through the fourth set. The Saints were within two until Sueur recorded two kills and Spencer tallied a service ace to put the match out of reach as the Sharks would win the set 25-21 and the match in four sets.
Collazo led the Sharks with 13 kills while Moreno (12), Spencer (12) and Sueur (11) all recorded double-digit kills as well.
Sueur had a hitting percentage of .846 while
Drew McNellis had seven kills with a percentage of .667.
McNellis also had a team-high nine kills.
Jack Sarnowski led the Sharks with 10 digs and recorded a season-high 47 assists.
The Sharks return to the court Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. when they take on No. 20 Daemen.
