SAN DIEGO, Calif. — The LIU softball team wrapped up its trip to San Diego on Saturday in games against Colorado State and Southern Utah.
In the game against Colorado State, LIU jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after an error by the Rams' second baseman. Unfortunately for the Sharks, the Colorado State pitcher was on her a-game and did not allow another runner to score as LIU fell 4-1.
The second game of the day was a different story. The Sharks trailed in the third after a Southern Utah two-RBI double but answered immediately. With the based loaded,
Mari Narvaiz singled and drove in two to tie up the game. From there the pendulum swung as LIU was able to add on three more runs in the sixth and seventh innings to bring home a 5-2 victory.
Narvaiz went 3-5 on the day with two RBI.
Dallas Andrews had two knocks against Southern Utah while
Lily Hinkle,
Alexia Castro and
Gabby Padilla each had one.
Delaney Carnell recorded her first RBI as a Shark in the win.
Alyssa O'Donnell recorded her second win of the season against the Thunderbirds, throwing a complete game with two strikeouts.
The Sharks return to the field on Friday at 9:30 a.m. when they take on Green Bay in their first game of the Stetson Invitational.
