BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The LIU men's volleyball team took on Saint Francis U in the teams' second match against each other in as many days on Saturday night. The sequel was just as thrilling as the the original as the Sharks and Red Flash once again went to the fifth set.
After losing the first set, the Sharks came alive in the second and third, winning each 25-22 and 25-19. The deficit seemed to wake up the Red Flash, however, as they stormed to a 25-16 win the fourth sending the match to a fifth and final set. Saint Francis U carried momentum from that fourth set win into the fifth as the Sharks fell in the fifth 7-16.
Livan Moreno had a team-high 12 kills while adding seven digs and two aces.
Gio Collazo followed with 10 kills.
Drew McNellis led the Sharks with 4.5 total blocks.
Joseph Nunez had a team-high and career-high 12 digs.
The Sharks return to the court on Friday when they travel to D'Youville for another NEC contest.
