NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. — The LIU men's basketball team traveled to Merrimack on Saturday afternoon, hoping to improve its NEC record.
The Sharks had a great first and a beautiful sequence from
Jason Steele and
Andre Washington led to a buzzer-beater three to give LIU a one-point lead going into halftime. That lead was short lived unfortunately, as Merrimack started drilling threes out of the gate and distanced itself from LIU. Turnovers would hurt the Sharks and they never got back into a groove as they fell 83-68.
Andre Washington had a team-high and season-high 16 points, shooting 5-6 from the floor and 3-4 from three.
R.J. Greene led the Sharks with 10 rebounds,
Nikola Djapa grabbed seven.
Terell Strickland had a team-high four assists and scored 10.
The Sharks return to the court on on Thursday at 7 p.m. when they take on Le Moyne on Senior Day.
