Eric Acker's Career-High 28 Points Leads Men's Basketball to Big NEC Win Over Le Moyne

BROOKLYN, N.Y. —  The LIU men's basketball team welcomed Le Moyne to the Steinberg Wellness Center for the first time on Thursday night as the Sharks celebrated Andre Washington and Tai Strickland during Senior Night.

The first half opened to a slow start with neither team being able to knock down consecutive shots until LIU got into groove and took and 14-point lead. Le Moyne was able respond but the Sharks took a nine-point lead into the half.

The Dolphins cut the LIU lead all the way down to two but that is when Eric Acker took over. The East New York native lit up the stat sheet, scoring 22 of his career-high 28 points in the final 20 minutes.

Clutch buckets by Acker, Andre Washington and Terell Strickland would seal the deal for the Sharks and they took home the W, 76-64.

Multiple LIU players had great stat lines starting with Acker who ended the game with 28 points on 12-21 shooting, seven rebounds and five assists.

R.J. Greene recorded his third double-double of the season with 12 points and a team-high 11 rebounds.

Terell Strickland led LIU with eight assists and scored 10 points.

Washington finished the game with eight points, four rebounds and three assists.

The Sharks kept their home-court hopes for the NEC Tournament alive and they return to the court on Sunday when they travel to Wagner for a noon matinee on CBS Sports Network.

Jason Steele scored 11 on 4-6 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds while tallying four assists.
