Sharks Score Season-High 103 Points In Win Over York College

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The Sharks set a new season-high in points on Wednesday night, defeating York College by a score of 103-53 at home.

Basketball royalty was in the house as Knicks legend Walt "Clyde" Frazier was honored during a special halftime presentation. He, alongside fellow Knicks alum Allan Houston and others, were on hand as LIU put on an absolute show, making sure the squad was "dishing and swishing" all night long in Frazier's honor.

The Sharks had already built up a 23-point lead by halftime, leading the way 46-23. Receiving his third start of the season, Jalen "Roc" Lee scored 12 of his season-high 23 points in the first half, wowing the crowd with some acrobatic dunks and helping LIU take control early on. He finished the game shooting 9 of 12 from the field, converting on three shots from deep.

Lee served as the headliner of five Sharks who scored in double-figures, including Jason Steele (who had a double-double with 13 points and a team-leading 11 rebounds off the bench), Blake Lander (12 points), Jamal Fuller (10 points), and Tre'shawn Sheppard (10 points).

As LIU poured in the points, floor general Terell Strickland orchestrated the offense beautifully, dishing out a season-high 12 assists. The Sharks shot 56% from the field and 40% from long range.

It wasn't merely a night of special scoring prowess for the Sharks. The team dialed up the defensive pressure, pulling down a season-high 51 boards as a team and swatting a season-high 7 blocks, all while holding the opponent to under 30% shooting from the field in the game.

The game also proved to be a special one for freshman Gavin Pendergast, who scored the first points of his collegiate career and finished with 4.

LIU will play its next game on the road, a Wednesday, Dec. 11 matchup against UMass Lowell at 6 p.m.
