To say the 2024 ECAC Winter Championship went well for the LIU Sharks would be a massive understatement for both Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Team.
Multiple swimmers set school records while women's teammates senior
Allie Bashor andÂ
Lara Wielkiewicz came in first and second place respectively in the 200-yard individual medley. LIU as a school finished fourth overall among competing schools while also having plenty of school records broken during the weekend of competition.Â
Freshman
Finn Drysdale set school records for the 200 (1:38.35), 500 (4:25.46), and 1650 (15:44.50) freestyle events. Drysdale also joined Maksym Wozny,
Emilio Garcia, and Daniel Chocano in setting a school record time in the 800 free relay with a time of 6:43.34. Garcia later joined Fabrizio Infante,
Marcelo Chauvet, and
Alejandro Pascual Del Cid for their record-setting time in the men's 200 freestyle at 1:21.31. The 200-freestyle relay team finished in first in their race alone.Â
LIU will be back in the pool for both men's and women's teams on January 13th with a meet against Le Moyne.Â
