Easton, P.A. — LIU closed out the Lafayette Classic with a 60-52 loss to Niagara on Sunday afternoon.
Terell Strickland (9 points) and
Malachi Davis (7 points) combined for 16 of the Sharks' 22 first half points as the team trailed 27-22 heading into the break.
LIU kept pace with Niagara for much of the second half and continued making a push to tie things up, but couldn't fully overcome the early deficit. Strickland went on to score 17 points for the second straight game (and day), tying what stands as a season-high for the floor general. He added 5 assists and shot 5 of 10 from the field, making three shots from three-point range and sinking all four of his free-throw attempts. The Sharks shot 100% as a team from the charity stripe in the game.
Davis finished with 15 points for LIU, who will return to play on Wednesday, Dec. 4 hosting York College in Brooklyn at 7 p.m.
