EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — Victoria Rutnik earned her first career shutout in her first start of the season as the LIU women's hockey team defeated Saint Michael's 1-0, completing a two-game series sweep against the Purple Knights at the Northwell Health Ice Center on Saturday afternoon.
Grace Babington scored the game's only goal 4:21 into the first period, and Rutnik took care of the rest. The sophomore made 13 saves, including two key stops in the third period, to secure LIU's 1-0 win.
The Sharks will host No. 7 Quinnipiac on Tuesday afternoon at the Northwell Health Ice Center.
